October Parent Newsletter

Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you and a hope of finally embracing you.

October is the Month of the Rosary!  Prayer Opportunity!

On October 13th/14th your children will be introduced to the Rosary during class.  If you’re available, come join us!  We encourage you to ask your children what they learned about the rosary and to pray it together as a family.

5th Grade Retreat

The 5th Grade Retreat will be held Saturday, October 18th 4-9pm.  Come join your classmates for a little review fun, activities and Mass followed by pizza and games!  Don’t forget to turn in your permission slips!  Questions?  Please call Patty at 888-1182 ext. 3021.

No Classes!  1st-5th Grades will not have class on November 3-4 due to Holy Apostles being utilized as a polling place for the election.  Classes will resume the following week.

First Reconciliation/First Communion Parent Meeting!

The Diocese of Boise requires parents of children preparing for Reconciliation and Communion to attend catechetical sessions on each of these sacraments.  We have consolidated them down to 1 class for your convenience and only require 1 parent to attend!  Fr. MacMillan will be the presenter for this session which will be held in the church after the 11am Mass on Sunday, November 9th.  Please put the date and time on your calendar!

Reminder on Attendance, Drop-Off & Pick-Up

We have a very limited number of classes for the year to help you nurture your child’s faith.  To make the most of our time with your child it is very important that you make your child’s attendance a priority. Also for the safety of all our children, parents need to drop-off and pick-up their children at their classrooms.

Snack & “Potty” Reminder!  Please be sure to give your children a little snack to eat before they come to class if they need one.  We have several children with severe allergies so we are discouraging snacks in the classrooms.  Also a quick run to the bathroom with your child before class will help cut down on the “bathroom conga line”!  Thank you for helping in these small ways to keep our valuable teaching time to a maximum!

Prayers at Home  We will be testing your children on their prayers & practices throughout the year.  Please continue with the great job you’re doing in teaching your children their required prayers.  This is especially important for the students preparing for their sacraments!

FYI!  As of October 1st, we have a wonderful group of 637 children enrolled in our Pre-K through 5th grade program along with 120 dedicated and loving volunteers!!  Please remember us in your prayers as we all continue on our faith journeys this year!

Website Info!

www.faithfirst.com!  RCL has created this wonderful website to enhance and coordinate with the curriculum that we are using in our classrooms.  It has stuff for kids, parents and catechists.  Check it out!

If you have any questions, comments or ideas, please feel free to send an email or give a call at the RE Office – we would love to hear from you!  By working together, we can encourage and nurture the spiritual growth of our children, ourselves and have a great year!

God bless you and have a great month!
