October 20^th and 21^st Second Grade Parent Note:

We emphasized making good choices today. We show our love for God and others by doing what He asks of us. It is our choice to do God’s will and we are responsible for the choices we make. The classes also talked about the examination of conscience and following the commandments (the 7 hearts we made last week – How to Love God and How to Love Others).

Choices, examining our conscience, and following the commandments are all ways we start to prepare for and understand the types of things we need to confess for our First Reconciliation. Start looking for things at home to ask them “Did you intend to trip your brother?” (If so, they might want to ask God to forgive them. If not, then emphasize that accidents and mistakes sometimes happen. Sins are things we do on purpose that hurt God and/or others. We tell God that we are sorry for our sins (in the Act of Contrition) and then we tell the priest our sins in the sacrament of Reconciliation and accept our penance.

Reminder: Required Parent Meeting with Fr. Len in the Church for Reconciliation/First Communion will be held on Sunday, November 9^th at 12:15pm in the Church.
